Dear colleagues
The SemEval Organizing Committee is looking for three new members, to serve
for two years (2023 and 2024). To maintain global diversity and to promote
inclusive and respectful working hours, the committee is slowly rotating
through different time zones each year. We are looking for candidates in
time zones UTC+6 to UTC+9 (inclusive).
The organization of SemEval involves the following main tasks:
issue call for shared tasks
manage the review process for tasks and select the best ones
monitor tasks (websites set up, datasets on time, reviewing papers on
time, etc.)
manage SemEval emails
manage SemEval website and paper submission site
manage the review process for task description papers
compile SemEval proceedings
organize SemEval workshop
While organizing SemEval involves commitment all year around, the most
intensive period is usually from January to April. Because it is well
structured and has good institutional memory, most organizers find the job
pleasant, not too stressful, and overall a good experience.
Each SemEval cycle lasts over a year, so the organization of one year's
SemEval overlaps with the next. Proposals for SemEval-2023 tasks have
already been submitted and are currently under review.
The new organizers will work alongside two current organizers (Ritesh Kumar
and Gabriel Stanovsky) and occasionally consult two emeritus organizers
(Guy Emerson and Natalie Schluter). The committee also recruits graduate
students as assistant organizers, to help with some of the bigger
organizational tasks (like putting together the proceedings).
To express your interest, please send your CV and cover letter (just a
brief paragraph about your interest in and association with SemEval) by
email to semevalorganizers@gmail.com with the subject line "Expression of
Interest for SemEval Organisers".
Thanks
Ritesh, Gabriel, Guy and Natalie
