  • Project A02: Monitoring the Understanding of Explanations (https://trr318.uni-paderborn.de/)
  • PIs: Prof. Dr. Hendrik Buschmeier, Dr. Angela Grimminger, Prof. Dr. Petra Wagner

The project's objective is to process multimodal signals indicating whether a user understands or does not understand explanations in human-agent explanatory dialogue.

  • Multimodal signal processing, based on recent theoretical advances of Judith Holler and Stephen Levinson (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tics.2019.05.006)
  • Development and evaluation of state-of-the-art computational models for monitoring user understanding in context of explanations
  • Interdisciplinary team (phonetics/psycholinguistics/computational linguistics/human-machine interaction), situated in a large interdisciplinary research centre with fantastic support structures
