We are looking for a postdoctoral Research Assistant to investigate the realization of meaningful nonverbal behavior in embodied conversation agents, with a specific focus on using data-driven approaches to computationally modeling the use of gestures during face-to-face interactions. The work will specifically explore the relation in human face-to-face interaction between participants’ mental states and their nonverbal behaviour, computationally model that relation using data-driven/machine-learning techniques, work with the team to realise that model in a virtual human and experimentally evaluate its impact in interactions between humans and virtual humans.
